"It's like moving the 8th army across Europe!" my dad used to say, when describing a Herculean organisational task.
I think that's what he said anyway.
Don't know who or what the 8th Army was.*
Anyhoo, I keep on thinking of that expression as I get the Goofballs ready for school this week after summer holidays.
Surely they have an app for this!
I have a glorious basket filled to the brim with iridescent white socks, enough lunchboxes, drinkbottles and ice packs to kit out that 8th army {which I'm assuming was large}, slices have been baked ready to be packaged for morning tea, enough stationery to open my own newsagency and no less than eight pairs of shoes have been fitted and purchased....couple of new pairs of sneakers in there.
We have Mr Magoo starting school this year.I know.
It's redonkulous.
From Thursday, I will officially only have one child at home with me during the day.
For the first time in 15 years.
Weird.
He's going to be smothered with my motherly attentions.
For various reasons we have four different schools to consider.
{It's a girls school vs boys school vs senior campus vs junior campus scenario}
Four different uniforms.
Four different newletters each week.
Four different parent-teacher meetings a term.
Four different cultures, environments and food restrictions.....to keep it simple, no one gets any nut products.
Believe it or not, it all works out pretty easily.
I love that.
Today my vacuum short-circuited (no biggie, we have no carpet in our house, so I'll just use a broom for a while}, the dishwasher threw a hissy fit {BIG deal....I loathe washing up. Dave came home from work and did ALL the washing up while I put the kids to bed. I love him 150%.} and when I tried to do my online fruit and veggie order, their website crashed.
Whatever the opposite of a Midas touch is.....today, I had it.So I baked.
The oven still works. Yay.
For now.
Best go to bed.
Staggered starts to school this week.
Missy Moo on Monday
Mimi today.
JD & Lucy tomorrow.
*gulp* Mr Magoo on Thursday
Thank goodness the coffee machine is still working.
Love you more than scotch tape,
Meredy xo
* Thanks
Wikipedia it appears that the 8th Army were British, had 220,000 soldiers and were famous in WW2 in Sth African and Italian campaigns. That's a whole lotta bully beef to distribute. Good analogy Pops.
