I went for my walk today with a heavy heart.
Cancer is everywhere, but usually somewhere else. When it strikes too close to home, it hits hard. Today my sister and her husband got the news, stage four. My brother-in-law is a dearly loved man, a husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and friend to many. Now he begins a battle for his life.
Not curable, but treatable. Those are words that strike fear, but also hope. They have a good team of doctors. My sister is a retired nurse. He is in good hands. Their three children and their families live nearby. They have a good support network. In all of those things they are fortunate.
But today I am sad.
