My 1st Blog-iversary & a Giveaway!

In typical fashion, I am late for my own bloggy birthday. I'm useless at remembering birthdays....including my own..... and now my blog's.

I stumbled into blogging because of a love of books. I had purchased "My French Life" by Vicki Archer and was wondering whether or not she had a website of some description so I could save some images of her book onto my screensaver on my computer. When I Googled her, I saw that she was mentioned on a blog called "Absolutely Beautiful Things" which is authored by the uber-talented Anna Spiro. Clicking on the link, like many before me, I fell through the rabbit hole.

Tentatively dipping my toe in the blogland water, I started this blog as a way of recording our family happenings. I'm so relieved that the pressure to scrapbook has been taken away! I'm completely useless at it. The children love seeing their adventures on the screen.....Lucy often says "you'll have to put this on blodger!" {She prefers to pronounce it that way}

Thank you lovely, talented, generous, spirited ladies who have encouraged and inspired me. Thanks for putting up with my circuitous manner of speech and suburban ramblings and thank you for leaving positive comments. You are all so special and dear to me and have given me so many belly laughs.......I love sharing aspects of our lives together. It's a wonderful sisterhood.

I'd like to present some of my favourites (in alphabetical order)......all fabulous, all talented, and my daily read.

Mrs A in the Cove - Leanne....can you believe we share the same obstetrician? Leanne and her husband have three little girls and an angel in heaven. She is a co-founder of the Still Birth Foundation and between raising her family and building a new house, somehow finds time to raise money for that vital cause. Beautiful, stylish and with a heart as big as Australia, she is a superwoman extraordinaire. I'm so glad to know you.

The Amicks - Angela, a smile that would melt the hardest heart and a spirit to match. Angela lives in the US with her lovely hubby and two gorgeous sons (and another baby on the way!). Her second son, Benjamin, was born with Down Syndrome and a heart condition which has required surgical intervention. Both boys are as cute as can be and, under her umbrella of love and cheerfulness, will no doubt grow to be awesome men. Angela's blog is honest and inspiring - she's the type of mother you long to be.

Beck - Who doesn't have a blog, but has always been my number one encourager and a friend par excellence. A recent visit re-confirmed my long-held suspicions......you are indeed too fabulous for words and when I grow up, I want to be just like you. Thank you dear friend for lovely moments.

Being Ruby - Julie's blog is a breath of fresh, cultured air. Imagine having a beautiful art book available to you, that is refreshed almost every day, filled with style, art and mesmerising words. This is Being Ruby. I love it here....I'm sure you will too.

The Bottom of the Ironing Basket - Oh, Simone, you are simply fabulous. Simone lives in the UK with her hubby and two young children and somehow manages to post the MOST amazing, awe-inspiring posts. She is humble and kind and I'm so glad to call her friend. I so hope to meet one day in the flesh where we would talk the leg off an iron pot.....in between macaroons.

Everything by Twos - Lisa, you are such a gorgeous girl. Lisa's blog is filled with her love of her family (which include twins!) and her dedication to live a life that reflects Christ's generosity. She inspires me no end.

French Essence - For the Francophile or for those who appreciate beauty and the allure of living in another country, French Essence is the blog for you. Vicki lives in a beautiful mans in the French countryside and in between writing books, running their considerable home and nurturing her family, blogs about life in France. She's kinda awesome. Vicki is also one of the very first people to leave a comment on my blog and regularly drops in with encouraging words. She also has fabulous hair :)

The Laurel Hedge - Millie....my hero. Millie has raised FIVE sons and a very cheeky husband, which I think deserves a medal, or at least a never-ending supply of chocolate. Her blog is full of wit and loveliness. With writing so wonderful, one can only hope she'll write a book about her life, her family and her quest for the perfect bathroom! She's also very wise and has exactly the right advice just when you need it most. I can't imagine blogland without her.

whatever - Meg.....you're a Meg-a-star. She sews, she bakes, she gardens, she photographs, she loves her friends, her large family and her husband. Then she blogs all about it. For pure inspiration and good humour, her blog is just wonderful. A daily injection of sunshine.

If you don't already know these wonderful women, I hope you'll drop in and introduce yourself. I promise you'll be happy you did.

Now.......a giveaway!!

Because.....every girl needs her own tiara....... an apron that will inspire her while she's preparing dinner.....again....and a spirit-raising phrase taken directly from a British WWII poster - sometimes I think I really need to channel that "spirit of the blitz" when facing anything in the kitchen.

To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment. Easy! I'll run this until Friday 9th October, 10.00pm and announce the winner on Saturday 10th October.

Have a happy weekend!

Meredith xo.
