Oscar nominated actor Michael Shannon ("Revolutionary Road") has entered negotiations to join the cast of Guillermo del Toro's upcoming period fantasy drama.
Plot details are being kept a secret, but the project is being described as a mysterious and magical journey set against the backdrop of Cold War-era America circa 1963 with an otherworldly love story at the center of it.
Shannon's negotiations are for him to play the lead villain in the yet untitled movie.
The movie also stars Sally Hawkins ("Godzilla"), Octavia Spencer ("The Help"), and Michael Stulhbarg ("Marvel's Doctor Strange").
2016 has seen the actor appear several times on the big screen. Shannon has appeared and/or starred in several films thus far, including Complete Unknown, Frank & Lola, Midnight Special, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Wolves, Poor Boy, and more recently Elvis & Nixon.
